Are Add-ons for Gutters in Des Moines, IA Worth the Investment?

Is it worthwhile to add protection for gutters in Des Moines, IA or homes elsewhere in the state? After all, gutters protect the home by collecting rain water from the roof and directing them to the ground through a downspout. Gutters have an inherent problem, though: rain and debris like leaves and branches can accumulate in them. Especially in the winter, rain water can freeze, and get stuck in the gutter.

And if an August 26 news story in Radio Iowa turns out true, some Iowans will have to decide soon if their gutters need protection. Based on a prediction by Farmer’s Almanac, the story reports that Iowa will have a “piercing winter” this year. Sandi Duncan, managing editor of the Almanac, says that the state is going to have one of those “rough, old-fashioned, very chilly, very cold, snowy winters.”
